Petite Syrah
It must have been a thrill to be alive in the early 1900s when this Petite Syrah vineyard was planted. And, subsequently, to have had the opportunity to farm it as the agricultural revolution changed the perception of what was possible. This vineyard is a signature piece of the Napa Valley story. The wine is everything you want Petite Syrah to be, displaying a myriad of flavors and textures as complex as the vineyard itself.
From Robert Parker's review:
The 2005 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard is impeccable. Beautiful blueberry and blackberry fruit infused with charcoal and licorice aromas jump from the glass of this opaque purple-colored effort. Full-bodied and stunningly rich with sweet tannin and good acidity, it should evolve easily for two decades. (91-93 points)
